A migrant worker in Masoe ward, Mae Taung village in Myanmar-Thai border, southern Mae Sot was infected with COVID-19 on June 25. 

Thai authorities later locked down the area and checked the rest of the Myanmar workers in the ward and found out that 74 among 80 workers tested COVID-19 positive.

“It’s been a long time since Mae Sot was free from COVID-19. But, a female Myanmar worker tested positive. After locked down and tested COVID-19, nearly all workers tested positive,” said Moegyoe, chair of JACBA, working for Myanmar workers’ affairs in Thailand. As a result, those living at the Two Elephant factory near the ward have raised their concern of contacting COVID-19. The C & C factory which is 200 meter distant from the infected areas is under lock down. 

In Mae Sot, among the 840 people who went for COVID-19 test, 452 tested positive on June 26 according to news from Thailand.
