Security Forces cracked down on the Mawlamyaing protest column today on May 2 with rubber bullets, arresting more than six people.
The protest started around 8am from the Shwe Byine Phyu Pagoda in Bogone Ward, marching all the way from the upper road.
They were reportedly about to disperse as they recieved news that security forces were en route but were taken by surprise when they were in Aung Taw Mu Street, near Padamyargone.
Over six were reported to have been arrested and some were injured.
More security forces were seen deployed since the afternoon in Mawlamyaing with security forces shooting to disperse civilians in Kyaikhanae Ward.
