Eleven Media Group (EMG) and other well-wishers donated altogether 18,000 gallons of water to villages that were in need within Yeysagyo and Myaing Townships.
On April 8, Oakkan village in Yeysagyo received 3000 gallons of water and 3000 more on April 12, which will be enough for one week for the whole village.
Khin Mon Village, also in Yeysagyo, is currently suffering from a draught. It received 6000 gallons on April 11, enough for a week's usage for over 300 households.
"The rain was regular before so we have water from the dam. If we get water in the dam, it was more than enough even for summer rice plantations. But since 3 years ago, the rain became irregular. Last year, there was quite a low amount of rain. This year, the dam is dry. And the village cannot produce fresh water if we dug wells so for drinking water, we have to rely on water from the dam. We asked Eleven (media) for help regarding this water crisis," said Ko Phoe Thein from Khin Mon Village.
Vilalges surrounding the Shin Ma Mountain in Pakkoku District, Yeysagyo Township, all suffer from the issue of not having fresh water wells thus are solely reliant on ponds, lakes and dams.
In Myaing, EMG and donors managed to deliver 6000 gallons across April 10 and April 13 for over 300 Yogis in Shwenantharmyaing Dhamma Yeikthar in Myaing Township.
On April 20 and April 21, Myit Hla Chaung Village and Theinkone Vilalge will be donated water respectively.
A well 680 feet deep in Kangyi Village and 800 feet deep well in Thaegyun Village, both in Myaing Township, were donated by EMG and other well-wishers during January and February of 2021.
