More than 10 people attacked Denko fuel station using swords and threw Molotov cocktails to set fire to the fuel station in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region in the evening of March 23, sources said.
The staff put out the nine Molotov cocktails using fire extinguishers in time, wrote Chit Khaing, owner of the station, on his Facebook.
He wrote that some people spread rumours about Denko fuel station on social media in recent days. A total of 108 Denko fuel stations are opened across Myanmar and imported good quality fuels from overseas by signing six months or one year contracts with foreign companies to supply fuels required for the public. The misconceptions occurred as the company bought foreign currencies to import fuels from overseas.
The attack on the fuel station is showing the company is suffering from the consequences of the rumours.
Moreover, he felt very sad about the attack as he donated cash to build a walkway beside Mandalay moat on 66th street and a 500-bed Children Hospital for the benefit of people in Mandalay, he wrote.
