Police raided Yar Kyaw wrought iron workshop in Myothit ward, Myitkyina, Kachin State, and made arrests on the morning of March 10 for allegedly making shields to be used in protests.   

The workshop owner, Aung Lwin, could not be arrested as he was not there at that time. But his wife, his brother Aye Lwin and six workers were arrested and taken to local police station No (2). 

Aye Lwin was later released as he was at his brother's house to give a wedding reception card. 

“There were a lot of police. They arrived in six cars to arrest Aung Lwin. As he was away, his wife and all workers were arrested. Some are from the iron workshop but some from the mechanical workshop,” said a relative. 

During the arrests, the police also seized a generator for welding and other accessories as well as over 20 shields, some relatives said. 

The wrought iron workshop is opened together with a garage.
