Tens of thousands attend funeral of Nyi Nyi Htet Aung slain in Hledan protest

Tens of thousands of people on March 2 attended the funeral of Nyi Nyi Aung Htet Naing, who died after a gunshot wound to the stomach during a protest at Hledan in Yangon. 

His body was entombed in Hlawga Cemetery and his tomb is inscribed with the words “The hero who fell in the spring revolution of democracy.” 

All those in attendance spontaneously raised their three fingers in salute. 

Nyi Nyi Aung Htet Naing, aged 23, was shot to the stomach during a mass protest on Hledan Road in Yangon on February 28. He was a student from University of West Yangon.
