With increased Covid-19 cases, Mandalay Region has so far seen over 40 deaths, with 12 deaths in Mandalay District, on November 27, according to the Region Covid-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee.   

Up to November 26, 27 of Covid-19 patients died in Mandalay District. Then the number increased to 39 on November 27 after 12 more died on that day alone. 

The whole region had seen 44 deaths from Covid-19 till November 27, according to data released on November 28. 

Mandalay Region saw 5,484 Covid-19 cases till November 27 with 4,380 cases in Mandalay District alone which is formed with seven townships. 

Of those patients, 3,245 had been discharged from hospital and 2,195 remained in hospital.  

The infection rate in the region increased over thrice in November forcing authorities to open more quarantine centers at schools and universities. 

Moreover, the hospital has to extend their wards to treat Covid-19 patients. 

In the whole region, 40 hospitals and Covid-19 treatment centers, 10 of them in urban areas, are treating Covid-19 patients.
