MUSE--------The funeral of an MP elect from the National League for Democracy (NLD) was held at the Aye Chanthar cemetery in Kyaukme on November 22 at 2:30 pm.
Those present at the funeral were Shan State chief minister Dr. Lin Htut and some ministers, central executive members from NLD, central executive from Thibaw, Taunggyi, and Naung Cho, present MPs from the Kyaukme district, members of Shan national league for democracy in Kyaukme district, officials from SNLD and Taung parties, officials from 88 generation, and family members.
He was attacked by two men on a motorcycle, who arrived there and shot him at the betel shop, in front of his house. He died on the way to Kyaukme hospital.
He won in the recent general election against Sai Mya Tun aka Swe Hein aka Sai San Lyun from Shan Nationalities League for Democracy, Kyaw Sein from Union Solidarity and Development Party, Sai Ko Khine from Union Betterment Party, Sai Tun Lin from Shan Nationals Democratic party.
Concerning the matter, Maung Maung Sein, secretary of Shan State NLD said that the government , regional authority and security forces should protect the lives of the innocent people.
There are many shooting incidents resulting in fatalities in Kyaukme Township. On November 14 evening, the house of Kyaukme su-election commission Soe Tun was shot. He is the brother of vice-chair of Pyuthu Hluttaw Tun Tun Hein.
SNLD issued a statement on November 22 denouncing the killing of Htaik Zaw as a terrorist act and asking for immediate investigation.
