As a  COVID-19 infected patient taking treatment at the 200-bed Sagaing Public Hospital had been untruthful about the persons he had had contact with, about 40 health workers had to be put in quarantine, as disclosed by the hospital.

It was learnt that on 14 Nov, five additional persons were found infected with coronavirus. Of these patients that were tested in the evening two tested positive . Of these two one patient, a woman was taking treatment for injuries due to an accident. About 40 health workers that had been in contact with her are  in quarantine.

Dr Thawdar Htet, director of Sagaing District Department of Public Health, said that two more patients were found infected that evening. One was a boy from Maubin village who had lost his sense of smell, and the other was the daughter of a person found to be infected the previous day. She had already been in the hospital. As her father was found to be positive the woman, his daughter who was in hospital, was tested and was found to have been infected. As she was in hospital already she had had quite a lot of contact with others. It was only after her father was found to have been infected that the daughter was tested, and found to be positive. The woman was a green grocer at the Mandalay vegetable market. It was her father who was tested first, and found to be infected. She was a vegetable vendor in the Mandalay market. Initially two vegetable vendors from Thalun Phyu village were found to have been infected with the virus. They were selling vegetables in the same market. She was living in the village. It was said that she was not selling anymore. At that time she had a motorcycle accident, and was hospitalized with a broken arm. That time some people from her village were found to have been infected with a virus. Only when her father was found to be positive it was learnt that she was in the hospital.  The woman, being a vegetable vendor in Mandalay, was going to and fro. It was learnt that a lot of people in Mandalay Vegetable market were found to have been infected. Now that they were found they told the places they had been to. Ordinarily they won't tell, but now that they were found infected they had to be coaxed to tell. If they had been truthful when they were placed in quarantine they could have controlled.
