An election campaign vessel from Arakan National party (ANP) is barred from docking at Toungup and Ramree ports in Rakhine State and the party members only carried back water from the stream as drinking water as they are not allowed to dock at the ports, sources said.

They can only dock at Gwa but they are not allowed to come ashore and they are barred from docking at Thandwe also. They cannot make entertainment to the locals either.

“We cannot dock at Toungup and cannot take food and drinking water. So we are using water from a stream in Toungup to use as drinking water but it is a little salty. Now we are going to Manaung,” said MP Than Naing of the State Parliament.

A total of 27 party members are aboard the vessel and they are in difficulty of getting drinking water.

Thousands of supporters came to watch the entertainments made on the vessel at night times.

The vessel cannot dock at ports due to COVID-19 regulations and it will arrive in Manaung today.
