MUSE---A vehicle carrying out an election campaign for Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) fell into the Ruli River in Muse Township, northern Shan State, yesterday morning with three dead and a child still missing.
“We carried out a door-to-door party election campaign in Manthero Township. There were about five vehicles owned by the SNLD. There were also about 20 vehicles by the SNLD supporters. As for them, they did not arrive in Manthero Township but they supported the SNLD procession for vote canvassing. That’s why we helped those supporters along the election campaign. The incident took place before I arrived. A vehicle overtook our party’s three vehicles and then it dove into the Ruli River. There were seven people including a driver and a child in the car. A driver and two women escape with their lives. We found three female bodies in the car but the child is still missing. We are very sad to see this incident,” said SNLD’s MP Sai Kyaw Thein from Shan State.
The vehicle was found around 2pm, alongside the aforementioned three female bodies.
Myanmar Police Force, Myanmar Fire Brigade, the rescuers from Manthero Township and CSOs from Muse are now searching for the missing child.
Later, the authorities sent the injured driver and two women to the Muse Hospital and gave the medical treatments. But, a driver ran away from the hospital.
Concerning the case, the relevant departments are now carrying out actions in accordance with the law.
