Contact tracing for Covid-19 is being conducted with the use of information technology, said Professor Dr Zaw Wai Soe, vice chairman of Yangon Region Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment Coordination Committee.
“These days, we are using the information technology for Covid-19 contact tracing. With the support from faculty members and students from the universities of medicine, specialists and experts from the Yangon Region Health Department and Nay Pyi Taw as well as public health experts are working together for contact tracing,” he said.
The Ministry of Health and Sports has stressed the need for public cooperation in conducting contact tracing after new Covid-19 infections have been reported so further infections can be prevented.
The ministry is making changes in its strategies as necessary depending on the nature and changes of the pandemic disease. In this regard, special focus is placed on factories with a large number of workers in order that there is no infection there.
“We opened ICU and HDU at Thuwunna Covid-19 Treatment Center the other day. Now we have 20 ICU beds and 55 HDU beds there. They will provide oxygen therapy. Serious cases will be solved. As we have mentioned earlier, Waibargi Hospital has 90 beds and South Oakkalapa Hospital 70. They are 14 ICU beds and others are related to oxygen therapy. At Phaunggyi Treatment Center, there are 38 ICU beds and 240 beds for oxygen therapy. Now, we have a total of 950. They are very effective,” the professor commented.
