As one more member of the police force in Hlaingthayar township was found to have been affected by CIVID-19 virus. The number of members of the police force being affected has increased, according to a high-ranking police officer from the northern district of Yangon Region said on 4 October.
There are now at least three confirmed cases within the police ranks.
As per announcement made by Ministry of Health and Sports a female member of the police force from eastern Hlaingthayar township, accompanying men in custody to law court was found to have been infected with COVID-19 virus. One other female lieutenant sergeant, who had had contact with the police woman, and two other members of different ranks are in quarantine in the township.
Upon conducting swab tests of the police woman who was in quarantine, she was found to be infected with COVID-19 virus. Of the two other policemen, one was found to have been affected by the virus as known on 4 October. The remaining policeman is still in quarantine.
Thirteen members of the police force in Insein township have also been found to have been infected with COVID-19 virus and are given treatment in treatment centres. A police officer from Hmawbi township who had been suffering from TB, died after being infected with COVID-19 virus
According to data, Hlaingthayar and Insein townships are areas with the most crime records.
