Myanmar found 256 new COVID-19 patients on September 17 bringing the total number of patients to 4,299 and one more patient died on the night of September 17, announced the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) on September 18.

A total of 3,554 samples: 1,694 samples tested at National Health Laboratory in Yangon, 111 samples tested at Department of Medical Research, 529 samples tested at Public Health Laboratory in Mandalay, 132 samples tested at Public Health Laboratory in Mawlamyaing, 94 samples tested at Public Health Laboratory in Taunggyi, 1 sample tested at Pyay general hospital, 7 samples tested at Taungoo general hospital, 16 samples tested at Pathein general hospital, 688 samples tested at No.1 1000-Bed Military Hospital and 282 samples tested at No.2 1000-Bed Military Hospital, were tested for the second batch of September 15 and found 256 new patients, it said.

A total of 5,284 samples: 2,246 samples tested at National Health Laboratory in Yangon, 366 samples tested at Department of Medical Research, 965 samples tested at Public Health Laboratory in Mandalay, 384 samples tested at Public Health Laboratory in Mawlamyaing, 94 samples tested at Public Health Laboratory in Taunggyi, 16 samples tested at Pathein general hospital, 70 samples tested at 1000-Bed Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw, 85 samples tested at Sittwe general hospital, 17 samples tested at Techilek general hospital, 10 samples tested at Kyaukphyu general hospital, 3 samples tested at Myaungmya general hospital, 11 samples tested at Muse general hospital, 9 samples tested at Taungoo general hospital, 6 samples tested at Pyay general hospital, 10 samples tested at Hakha general hospital, 4 samples tested at Myawady general hospital, 1 sample tested at Dawei general hospital, 1 sample tested at Pyin Oo Lwin general hospital, 2 samples tested at Loikaw general hospital, 12 samples tested at Magway general hospital, 1 sample tested at Myitkyina general hospital, 1 sample tested at Banmaw general hospital, 688 samples tested at No.1 1000-Bed Military Hospital and 282 samples tested at No.2 1000-Bed Military Hospital, were tested for the first and second batches of September 17 and found 404 new patients, it said.

One patient, Case-3738, a 71-year old man receiving medical treatment at South Oakkalapa hospital, died on the night of September 17 bringing the total number of deaths to 61.
