Air Thanlwin will suspend its regular domestic flights from September 10 to 24 due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, the airline has reported.
With increasing cases in Yangon Region, travellers going to various parts of Myanmar require quarantine plans leading to scarce air passengers.
Air Thanlwin conducts domestic flights from Yangon as the base to Mandalay, Heho, Kengtung, Tachilek, Lashio, Myitkyina and Sittway; from Mandalay as the base to Yangon, Khamti, Kengtung, Myitkyina and Tachilek; and from Heho as the base to Yangon, Kengtung and Tachilek.
Despite Air Thanlwin’s plan to suspend its flights, the State-owned Myanmar National Airlines and other domestic airlines remain to be operational.
“As MNA is State-owned, its regular flights will continue. There are special flights to the towns of Rakhine State. It also conducts relief flights to foreign countries including Singapore and Cairo,” said MNA CEO Captain Than Tun.
Officials from Air KBZ and Golden Myanmar Airlines said they would continue their domestic flights.
Yangon International Airport has suspended the arrival of international passenger planes since March 30 this year.
