YANGON-Most townships in Yangon Region found consecutive numbers of COVID-19 patients.

Therefore, those townships already have been under lockdowns, say the Ward Administrative Teams and relevant MPs.

The Ministry of Health and Sports yesterday reported that 55 new COVID-19 cases were found in Yangon on a single-day.

Case-1024 lives in South Oakkalapa Township, Yangon Region. The victim is a 28-year -old female and she worked at the Capital Supermarket in North Dagon Myothit Township.

After she tested positive, the street where she lived already has been under lockdown.

“Case-1024 had no smell and taste. So, she went to Sanpya Hospital in Thingangyun Township by Taxi. Later, she is being hospitalized there. When she was infected with COVID-19 virus, we sent her to the South Oakkalapa Hospital. Those who lived in the same apartment of the victim are put in home quarantine,” said administrator Hla Myint from Ward No.7 in South Okakalapa Township.

Currently, the authorities are carrying out security tasks at the partial lockdown wards in Yangon Region.

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said if a Township would have three more COVID-19 cases; it must be involved in the Stay-at- Home order.

The government already imposed stay-at-home orders for seven townships in Yangon Region since the beginning of September 2nd.

The townships under the restrictions are Thingangyun, Insein, North Oakkalapa, Tharkayta, Hlaing, Pazundaung and Mingaladon.

The government warned that people who violate the order will be subject to action under the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases Law.
