A total of 430 persons were prosecuted for 195 cases of breach of disciplinary measures and curfew order laid down in connection with COVID-19 in Mandalay Region,as disclosed by the Mandalay Region Ministry of Border and Security.

Those prosecuted were: 54 for 27 natural disaster cases, 56 for 19 cases of contagious diseases, 268 for 109 cases of failure to follow order, 6 for 8 cases regarding communication law, 3 for 3 cases of immigration act, 43 for 29 cases of causing disturbance in carrying out duties, totaling 195 cases, involving 389 males and 41 females, totaling 430. Action has been taken on them.

It is known as section 188. Section 144 concerns curfew. It is for the breach of regional curfew order imposed by the respective townships, and the police catch whoever goes out between midnight and 4am.The other night 53 were nabbed. From 25th to 31st Aug. there were 109 cases regarding section 188, as disclosed by  Col Kyaw Kyaw Min, Border Affairs and Security minister.

Actions were taken on those who breached the order between 25th to 31st August. During the night of 1 Sept. alone 56 were nabbed and prosecuted. Curfew was imposed in Mandalay in March, and police and team of the administrative department nightly nab anyone breaching the curfew.

The Mandalay Region Government said on 1st Sept. that  it will continue to impose curfew from midnight to 4am for the prevention of COVID-19, and that all those who fail to follow the order will be prosecuted as per prevailing laws.

According to information given by the Ministry of Health and Sports on 27 Aug., there have been 6 Positive cases of COVID-19 affected from a police officer from Rakhine State who had come to take part in a training course for head of police station conducted in police training school in Chanayetharsan, Mandalay Region. The 6 COVID-19 Positive patients are taking treatment at tge Kandawnadi hospital.
