Mandalay Region issued a new statement on Covid-19 prevention and control on September 1 including an instruction that requires anyone returning or coming from the townships with increasing cases to go into quarantine.

The previous statement issued on August 19 stated that only those returning from overseas would have to be in quarantine.

According to the latest statement, both returnees from overseas and those returning or coming from hard-hit townships need to spend 21 days in community based facility quarantine and seven more days in home quarantine. The instruction is effective until September 15.

Moreover, public parks, night clubs, KTV lounges, music concerts and religious ceremonies have been instructed to close temporarily while the night-time curfew from 12 midnight to 4 am remain to be imposed. Those who fail to follow the instruction will face legal action.

The Covid-19 outbreak across the country is increasing and Mandalay has seen three cases.
