Swabs taken from these 42 Bengalis were sent to the lab on 31 August and results show that one had contracted COVID-19, five culprits were found to be negative. 

These five culprits are in Phyapon. Only one of the Bengalis was found to be positive, and was sent to Waybargi hospital. 41 Bengalis will be sent to Rakhine State. At present they are still here  and will be sent to Rakhine State, said Ayeyarwadi Region Treatment/Public Health Department Deputy Director General, Dr Than Htun Aung.

Dr Than Htun Aung further said that swabs of those who helped capture the Bengalis will be sent for lab tests.

When swabs were taken from the Bengalis they were under police security in a jungle track going to Kunchaung dam. Later they went to another place in Kyankhin township.

Than Htun, president of Myittarshin Blood Donors Association, said on 1 Sep.that Dr Tayzar Soe Naing from Myan Aung, lab technician Than Min Htaik from Kanaung, and he took swabs from the 42 Bengalis. The team from Kyankhin sent the swabs to Yangon. After coming back the three of them were placed in Home Stay. It seemed that the three of them will have to stay under quarantine as one Bengali was found positive, as Dr Tayzar Soe Naing was informed. It seemed that their swabs too would be taken. They are awaiting direction from the township.

The said 42 Bengalis and five others with them in a boat were caught in a river between Mawlamyaing Kyun township and Bogalay township on 27 August.
