A man who was returning from China under his own arrangement was found to have high body temperature at Nandaw checkpoint on the border between Myanmar China in Muse, northern Shan State, on the morning of May 4 and was sent to Muse District People’s Hospital. 

The 40-year-old man started working as a mason in Ruili, China, about six months ago and re-entered Myanmar to go to Yekyi village, Pakokku Township, Magway Region, his native place, on May 4 through Nandaw border checkpoint. 

When the staff from Muse Public Health Department checked, he was found to have 38.4 degrees centigrade in body temperature. He was sent to the fever clinic in Muse Township and then transferred to Muse District People’s Hospital as a person under investigation (PUI) of Covid-19. 

“The man with high body temperature is now at hospital as a PUI. We will provide treatment and carry out other necessary preparations,” said medical superintendent Dr Han Naing Soe. 

Myanmar had 161 confirmed Covid-19 patients from March 23 to May 4. Six had died and 49 recovered, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported. 

An 87-year old woman who returned from Dubai is receiving treatment at Muse Hospital as Covid-19 Case No.143. She is reported to be in good health. 

Nandaw border checkpoint had received 4,367 people returning from China from April 3 to May 3. Every day, about 150 people re-entered the country.
