KALAY-Myanmar’s first COVID-19 patient has been discharged from the hospital today, says the Social Affairs Minister from the Chin State Government.

Chin State Government Committee had submitted a report to ease the lockdown program in Keptel village, Tedim Township, Chin State where Myanmar’s first COVID-19 patient visited.

“Now, the Keptel village has been under quarantine. If the National Health Committee and the Union Government will consent, we are going to ease the lockdown plan. The swab result of case-1 returned negative for two times. However, he must be kept in home quarantine for one week. He is discharged from the hospital today and his condition is now stable,” said the Chin state social affairs minister.

Myanmar announced its first confirmed case of Coronavirus on March 23rd.

First COVID-19 patient aged 36-year returned from the U.S to Myanmar on March 13th  aiming to hold his wedding reception in Keptel village, Tiddim Township. But, he tested positive for the virus and is put in isolation at Teddim Township Hospital.  

The Chin State Social Affairs Minister also said that they found COVID-19 confirmed case-150 in Chin State on April 29th. So, the family members from Taungzalet Ward, in Kalay Township, Chin State, where the patient temporarily stayed there are now kept in home quarantine since April 29th.

The Health and Sports Ministry is tracking 8 persons who had close contact with Case-1 for quarantine.
