Covid-19 Case No.145 patient is a 48-year-old man who had been quarantined at Sitagu Buddhist Academy in Sagaing after arriving from India, according to Sagaing Township General Administration Department.
At 7 am on April 26, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported that two more persons tested positive for Covid-19. The 48-year-old patient from Sagaing Township had no contact with other confirmed patients but he had a history of foreign travel.
“The patient from Sagaing had been in quarantine at Sitagu Buddhist Academy. He will be sent to Sagaing Hospital for medical treatment. Swabs from those who were in close contact with him have been taken for tests. As he was taken here separately, there is no one who had been in contact with him,” said Dr Thawdar Htet from Sagaing Township Public Health Department.
The monks, nuns and lay persons taken back from India are now in community based facility quarantine at Sitagu Buddhist Academy and Sitagu Vipassana Academy. There are 211 monks at Sitagu Vipassana Academy, and five nuns and 41 lay persons at Sitagu Buddhist Academy.
“He came back from India. He’s not a monk. He was in quarantine at Sitagu Buddhist Academy with other persons. He tested positive for Covid-19 after his swab tests. I don’t exactly about tests of other people there. Any monk has not tested positive,” and administrative monk Dr Ashin Sondara.
