More than 400 civil servants including senior authorities with the rank of director general are now in quarantine after they re-entered Nay Pyi Taw from other regions.
Quarantine plans started on April 19 for the service personnel returning to Nay Pyi Taw after having Thingyan holidays. Till April 22 there were 405 personnel in quarantine at Nay Pyi Taw Sibin Guesthouse.
“As of April 19 we have been taking charges of putting the returning departmental staff in quarantine. We have accepted 405,” said Dr Win Malar Kyaing, assistant director of Nay Pyi Taw Medical Services Department.
The civil servants ranging from daily-wage staff to directors are at Nay Pyi Taw Sibin Guesthouse while a deputy director general and a director generals are put up at a hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.
“Deputy directors general and directors general will be quarantined at New Ayeyar Hotel. Currently, the hotel has only a deputy director general and a director general.
Relevant departments have to arrange meals and personal items for those in quarantine.
Of those in quarantine, over 90 are from Covid-19-affected regions such as Yangon Region, Shan State and Sagaing Region.
Nay Pyi Taw Council area made up of eight townships has imposed a night time curfew (from 10 pm to 4 am) as of April 18.
