Yangon-Yangon will not be closed for entry and exit during a 10-day stay-at-home period, said Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein.

"The region government has prepared for security measures in coordination with the region police force and the regional COVID-19 control committee. The region government has also coordinated with a group named 'We Love Yangon' and the merchants association on the sufficiency of food," he added.

The COVID-19 Control Committee and relevant township-level departments will supervise the enforcement of stay-at-home rule. I believe that the spreading of COVID-19 can be prevented to a certain extent if we put more efforts to the 10-day stay-at-home rule, he said.

According to the directive issued by Yangon Region government, the people will have to stay at home during Thingyan Holidays from 10 to 19 April, except health reason and the purchase of food.
