Four family members of the 15th COVID-19 patient including two children have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total to 20 in Myanmar, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported.

The movement of the four was restricted at their home in Paukkhaung, Bago Region, after they were in close contact with the patient. Then, their lab tests showed that they tested positive.  

The infected four persons are the 15th COVID-19 patient’s 47-year-old husband, 10-year-old son,  8-year-old daughter and 18-year-old niece. They will be sent to the designated hospital for treatment.

Case No.15’s husband was working at the Paukkhaung Township General Administration Department. He came to Yangon where his wife was living on March 26 and took back his children and niece to his home in Ward-5 in Paukkhaung on March 27, said Region MP Win Naing.

After his arrival from Yangon, he held at least two meetings with others. Those who attended the meetings are now in quarantine even before the tests of their samples are still in progress.

“He went to Yangon on March 27. He held a meeting from 11 am to 2 pm on March 28. Another meeting took place on March 29. I didn’t attend it,” said Aung Aung, chairman of Paukkhaung Funeral Service Society.

He said he had been in quarantine for two days as he was in the meeting room.

The 15th COVID-19 patient was a head nurse working at a private hospital in Yangon providing healthcare services mostly to foreigners.
