Upper areas of Myanmar will have untimely rain from December 27 to 31 due to whirlwind from the west, said Hla Tun, Deputy Director of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

“Upper areas such as Kachin, upper Sagaing, Shan and Chin may have rain due to whirlwind from the west but it will not be much,” he said.

According to weather observation made by the DMH on December 23, weather will be fair mostly in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Yangon regions, Shan (north and south) and Kayin states and partly cloudy over the remaining regions and states.

The nighttime temperature will be from 3°C to 4°C below normal in Ayeyawady Region and Shan (east) and Kayah states, 2°C below normal in Shan (north) and Rakhine states and about normal in the remaining regions and states. The recorded night time temperatures are 2°C in Heho and Hakha, 3°C in Nantsan, Pinlong and Mongyan, 5°C in Mogok and 6°C in Putao, Hsipaw, Lashio, Kyaukme, Loilin, Kengtong, Pyin Oo Lwin and Loikaw.

According to weather observation made by the DMH for December 24, rain or thunders will be isolated in upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State and weather will be partly cloudy over lower Sagaing and Taninthayi regions, Shan (north), Chin, Rakhine and Mon states and fair mostly in the remaining regions and states.

The DMH announced night time temperatures may be below normal in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions and Shan and Kayah states for next two days.
