Myanmar earns US$1.4 B from border trade within two months

Myanmar earned over US$1.4 billion from border trade from October 1 to November 22 in this fiscal year and it is more than US$310 million in compared with the same period in last fiscal year, according to Ministry of Commerce.

It earned over US$760 million from Muse border trade center in that period and it is more than US$280 million in compared with the same period in last fiscal year.

Myanmar is trading with neighbouring countries through Muse, Lweje, Chinshwehaw, Kanpiketie, Kengtong, Techilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Nabule/Htikhi, Mawtaung, Maese, Sittwe, Maungdaw, Tamu, Reik and Htantalan border camps.

Myanmar is expecting to have US$15.5 billion from export sector and US$17.5 billion from import sector in 2019-20 FY and trade deficiency will be about US$2 billion, said Dr Than Myint, Minister for Commerce.

Myanmar earned US$34.97 billion in total from export and import sectors in 2018-19 FY and it was more than they expected. However the trade deficiency was US$1.39 billion, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

In 2017-18 FY, Myanmar earned US$35.895 billion in total from export and import sectors.
