A Myanmar citizen working in Thailand’s province of Samut Sakhon committed suicide by hanging himself on November 24.

The 22-year-old man named Tun Lin Aung was found dead in his room at about 7.30 pm.

Regarding the suicide case, Moe Gyo, chairman of the Joint Action Committee for Burma Affairs (JACBA) based Mae Sot, urged Myanmar workers not to lose their courage despite any difficulties and work hard to earn their living.

“The idea of committing suicide by hanging oneself might have been heard from social media, I will never accept that. No matter what difficulties they face, they should not do this. Don’t copy such an idea coming from social media. Never give up and work hard. I want to say this to Myanmar workers,” he said.

A Thai news agency reported quoting a Myanmar worker living close to Tun Lin Aung’s room as saying that before committing suicide, he went to work and got back home, received a phone call from his mother while he and his three other friends were using their phones and then went to his bathroom. As he took a longer time in the bathroom and was quiet, the door was broken and he was found dead, the news agency reported.
