A young man jumped off the Zwegabin mountain in Kyin State on July 10 and he was later found dead, said a member of Kind Heart Social Aid Organization.

The body was found in a ravine near the Zwegabin pagoda with a help of a drone.

“Like in a previous case in which the body of a female university student was searched with the help a drone, we did so now. We are now carrying his body down the mountain. According to a letter he left behind, he seemed to intentionally jump off the mountain. As the body was found in a ravine at the foot of the mountain down from the mountain-top latrine, he jumped over 200 to nearly 300 feet. He was a 21-year-old university student,” said the member of the organization at about 6 pm on July 10.

Six cars carrying local authorities, police and members of social organizations arrived at the foot of the mountain and conducted searches receiving information that a young man arrived there on a motorbike, climbed up the mountain and went missing in the morning of that day.

“The State Fire Brigade office received a phone call at about 12 noon informing that a young man climbing the mountain could not have been seen climbing down. At about 500 feet of the mountain top, a backpack, a motorcycle key, a mobile phone and a letter mentioned as a will for his parents. So we went down the mountain to search the man,” said a member of the brigade.

In the letter, the young man said: “Father and mother, please allow me to go free. I am extremely disappointed. Take care of your health.”

Rescue team members said the man lived in Kyargalay Village, Hpa-an Township and according to the stuff he left behind, he seemed to have intentionally jumped off the mountain.

So far there have been three similar cases at the mountain. A French man jumped off about 300 feet up the mountain in February 2017. A first year student from Hpa-an University jumped off about 500 feet up the mountain on June 25 this year.
