YANGON - As there have been an increased number of COVID-19 cases in Yangon General Hospital, infected patients from Yangon General Hospital were being transferred to quarantine centers and other hospitals in one night, said an unidentified officer from Yangon Rescue Organization (YRO) yesterday.
The YRO said that many ambulances parked in front of Yangon General Hospital(YGH) sent infected patients to Ayeyarwady Treatment Center in Thuwanna Stadium, Thingangyun Township, Phaunggyi temporary hospital in Hlegu Township and other quarantine centers from YGH since the beginning of yesterday night.
“Many ambulances including 30 ambulances from YRO came to YGH because the Call Centers including Nay Pyi Taw phoned us to pick up the infected patients. So, there have been more ambulances in front of YGH. Firstly, we sent those infected patients to Thuwana from YGH,” said an official from YRO.
The Ministry of Health and Sports said that they prepared some places in New Yangon General Hospital and YGH for keeping infected medical workers.
At least 70 health workers from the hospitals in Yangon Region have already been infected with coronavirus.
Now, those infected medical staff are receiving medical treatments at the COVID-19 treatment centers including the one in Phaunggyi.
Upon completion of new places, the infected medical staff will collectively undergo medical treatment at new places made for them.
Since the beginning of September 14th, the outpatient departments in Yangon General Hospital transferred to the No.2 Basic Education High School in Latha Township, Yangon Region.
The outpatient department accepts about 50 patients.
