YANGON-----Yangon University isn’t being placed under lockdown but some houses in the University compound, where there had been COVID-19 confirmed cases were restricted, General Administrator Thein Zaw Oo from Kamayut Township told Eleven Media yesterday.
“We didn’t lock down Yangon University. There is no need for the lockdown measures. However, the houses of COVID-19 infected patients in the University’s campus were put on lockdown. And then, we allowed people to carry out their tasks concerning the University’s activities as well as faculty members living in the Yangon University area are allowed to go outside. Mainly, the University’s Security Team supervised the measures,” said Thein Zaw Oo.
He also said that nine staff living in the education ministry owned areas, including the Yangon University had been infected with COVID-19. No one said that the cases were found due to the centennial celebration of the centenary of Yangon University. There had been COVID-19 confirmed cases before the centenary celebration as well as more two confirmed cases were found after the celebration.
Kamaryut Township is now supervising the Stay-at-home order and COVID-19 restrictions in its area including Yangon University’s compound. The township allows public and running of enterprises in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines.
