Yangon Mayor infected with COVID-19

Yangon Mayor Maung Maung Soe is being infected with COVID-19, announced by the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).

The announcement said the mayor was ill while he was supervising Yangon city development activities and COVID-19 control and prevention measures in markets in Yangon. He was taken a swab test and found to be infected with the virus on December 8. He was admitted to South Oakkalapa hospital.

His personal assistant and driver are also infected.

“We held a video conference meeting with the mayor from 10 am to 1 pm today and we haven’t had a report about it yet,” said Deputy Mayor Soe Lwin.

The Daily Eleven contacted May May Thwe, member of the YCDC, to inquire about it and she said she hasn’t known the news yet. When the Daily Eleven contacted his phone number, it was replied that he was given injection.
