Yangon has over 380,000 elders aged 65 and above for COVID-19 vaccination

It was learnt from the Yangon Region Department of Public Health and Cure that in Yangon Region there are over 59 thousand persons of 18 years and above, and over 380000 persons of above 65 years that are to be inoculated against COVID-19.

From 5th Feb. elderly people of 65 years and above from Dagon township, Botahtaung township and Pabedan township, Yangon Region have been vaccinated against COVID-19, and in order to administer COVID-19 vaccine arrangements had been made in Dagon SHS 1 in Dagon township, SHS1 Pabedan in Pabedan township and SHS4 Botahtaung in Botahtaung township. It is learnt that ambulances and oxygen cylinders were also ready at hand should there be any emergency treatment required when the elderly people were vaccinated.

Those under Stay at Home condition and those above 65 years from regions and states with high contagion were COVID-19 vaccines from 5th of February.

The Ministry of Health and Sports announced that as a start Dagon, Pabedan and Botahtaung townships in Yangon Region vaccines were given on 5th Feb. and depending upon the availability of vaccines further vaccinations will be given.

With regard to the further administering of COVID-19 vaccines the Ministry of Health and Sports have information on 4th February.

In its statement it was said that the task of giving COVID-19 vaccines began on 27th Jan. 2021, and till 2nd Feb. health workers and volunteers who participate in the prevention, core and control of COVID-19 nunvering 103142 had been vaccinated, and that further administering of vaccines would be conducted from 5th Feb. and that within the month of February the following groups would be vaccinated.

The groups are Union level members, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, President of the Region or State Administrative Council, secretaries and members, ministries and central head offices, state staff in the level of director and above from Region/State level ministries, those above 65 years in Stay at Home condition from 40 townships, those of the level of union ministers who served under the previous governments, deputy ministers, and members of the Region/State government body.

In addition it was learnt from the Ministry of Health and Sports that starting from March, 2021the list of groups that will be vaccinated monthly would be announced.
