Yangon govt. orders to take action against suspended or limited sales at filling stations

The Yangon Region government has sent an order dated August 13 to the Yangon Region Supervisory Committee on Petroleum and Petroleum Product Business Activities to take action against suspended or limited sales of fuels at filling stations.

The order says the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods and the Supervisory Committee on Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil are working together to ensure a continuous supply chain of fuels and correct prices for the public.

Some fuelling stations however have halted or limited their sales citing stock shortages with intent to seek their self-interest hoping that prices may change. To prevent unnecessary and false news, the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Trade and Goods issued a directive dated August 13, the regional government quoted as saying.

Thus, the government has directed the Yangon Region Supervisory Committee on Petroleum and Petroleum Product Business Activities to launch inspections and take action against suspended or limited sales of fuels at filling stations.
