Water levels in Thanlwin River, Thaungyin River and Bilin River are reached above their danger levels in Hpa-an, Myawady and Bilin towns, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) on August 4.
According to the statement, the water level of the Thanlwin River has reached above two feet of its danger level in Hpa-an, and may rise by half a foot within a day, and may continue to remain above its danger level.
In the same way, the water level of the Thaungyin River has reached above three feet of its danger level in Myawady, and it may drop by half a foot within a day, and may continue to be above its danger level.
The Bilin River water level has reached about one and a half feet above its danger level in Bilin, and may rise by half a foot within a day, and may continue to be above its danger level.
It is reported that the water level of the Nanyin River has reached one inch above the critical water mark in Moekaung, and may rise by half a foot within a day, and may continue to be above the critical water mark in the town.
Furthermore, the water level in Sittoung River is about two feet below its danger level in Madauk, and it is expected to reach the critical water level in a day. The water of the Nankaung River is about one foot below its danger level in Moekaung and may reach the critical water level in the next two days. For this reason, the people living near the river bank and in the low-lying areas in the above towns have been informed to be especially careful.
During August, the water of the Ayeyawady River will be Shweku, Katha, Mandalay, Myinmu, Pakokku, NyaungU, Seiktha, Hintada and Zalun may exceed the respective danger levels of these towns about once each.
Water levels of Chindwin River in Hkamti, Homalin, Phaungpyin, Mawlaik, Kalewa, Mingin, Kani and Monywa may exceed their danger levels about once.
Water level of Myittha River may reach above its danger level in Kalay, Dokhtawady River in Myitnge, Sittoung River in Toungoo and Madauk. Shwegyin River is in Shwegyin, Bago River in Bago, Thanlwin River in Hpa-an, Thaungyin River in Myawady, Ngawun River in Ngathaingchaung, Thabaung and Pathein, Toe River in Maubin, Kalanten River in Kyauktaw, Lay Myo River in MraukU and Bilin River in Bilin once respectively.
