Water levels in Sagaing and Nyaung-U now above danger level

Mandalay – Water level of Ayeyawady River in Mandalay nearly reached its danger level on July 28 and it may reach its danger level within 24-hr, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Water level of Ayeyawady River in Mandalay has reached 1,253 centimeters and it is about seven centimeters away from its danger level.

Water levels of Ayeyawady River in Shweku, Kathar and Thabeikkyin are lowered and the water levels of Ayeyawady River in Sagaing and Nyaung-U are reached above its danger levels respectively.

“Water level in Ayeyawady River is lowered from Myitkyina to Thabeikkyin and we forecasted the water level of Ayeyawady River in Mandalay cannot be increased much,” said Kyaw Lwin Oo, Director of the DMH for upper Myanmar.

The DMH forecasted water levels of Ayeyawady River in Mandalay, Sagaing and Nyaung-U will be above its danger levels for the next two days.

Water level of Dotehtawady River in Myitnge reached three centimeters above its danger level on July 28 and it will be above its danger levels for the next two days.

River water entered lower areas of Sagaing and Mandalay and water covered over some places of Sagaing-Mingun road and the detour road of Taungtaman Inn.

The DMH advised people who lived in lower areas and near the riverbank to be careful of the flood.
