The administrator of Bamaraye Ward in Dawbon Township, Yangon Region, was shot dead while an explosion occurred near Moktaung Ward Administration Office in Sangyoung Township on June 3, local sources said.  

Administrator Tun Yi was shot dead while he was in a car at the corner of Minnanda Street and Shwe Phuhmyaw Street in Dawbon Township just after 6.30 pm on June 3.

“He was reportedly shot at close range. Gunfire was heard at least three times,” said a resident near Minnanda Street.

According to a video clip spreading on social media, the administrator died on the spot in a Kluger.  

The explosion occurred at about 6.50 pm on June 3 near Moktaung Ward Administration Office in Sangyound Township. But no one was hurt.  

“The explosion was very loud. We found no one hurt. There were security checks after the explosion,” said a resident in Sangyoung Township.
