“Voter Education for Youth” held in Mandalay to promote systematic voting among young voters

An election awareness lecture titled “Voter Education for Youth”, jointly organized by the Mandalay Region Election Commission and the Myanmar Youth Development Association (MYDA), was held at the indoor sports hall of Bahtoo Stadium in Mandalay at 8:30 am. on October 31, 2025.

At the event, U Kyaw Than Tun, Chairman of the Mandalay Region Election Commission, delivered the opening speech, followed by U Zaw Myo Aung, Chairman of MYDA, who also addressed the attendees. Afterwards, U Aung Myo San, Deputy Director of the Mandalay Region Election Commission, conducted the main lecture on election awareness.

In his remarks, U Zaw Myo Aung said the event was a joint effort aimed at educating young voters about the importance of voting, how to cast their votes correctly, and how their participation can shape the country’s future. He also expressed gratitude to the Union Election Commission for its guidance, the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region for granting permission to hold the event, the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing the venue, and the teachers and staff of Mandalay Region UEC Yadanarbon University for their cooperation.

According to the organizers, the objectives of the awareness program were to help young people understand the electoral system and voting fundamentals, to raise awareness of their rights and responsibilities as voters, to promote understanding of proper voting procedures; and to highlight the importance of constituencies in a democratic system.

The lecture aimed to encourage youth participation and ensure they vote knowledgeably and systematically in future elections.
