MONYWA - The Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) already filed a lawsuit against the supporters of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) for their disturbance acts during USDP’s canvassing campaigns in Sagaing Region.

Aung Zaw Oo, USDP’s secretary in Sagaing Region, said that the USDP sued the NLD supporters who had disturbed the USDP’s election rallies at the police stations in Pale, Chaung-U, Wetlet and Kantbalu Townships in Sagaing Region.

“We carried out a restrained election campaign. However, they[NLD] attacked us. In doing so, the USDP’s supporters can’t bear patiently. So, we are going to file lawsuits against the NLD’s supporters,” said Aung Zaw Oo.

Although USDP officially submitted a report to the relevant election sub-commissions aiming to start door-to-door canvassing campaigns, to distribute the pamphlets and to erect USDP signboards in accordance with COVID-19’s guidelines, they had faced various disturbances at the places, according to Aung Zaw Oo.

The USDP will be representing all constituencies in Sagaing Region except the upper house seat of No.4 constituency in Kantbalu Township for the upcoming general election-2020.
