According to the local fire department, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) office within the compound of the local ward administration office at Ward (f) in Pyi Gyi Tagon Township, Mandalay had burned down around 4am in the morning on May 3.
Initial reprots suggest that the fire was an arson attack, turning into ashes a 15x30 ft one-story building.
The fire was put out at around 5am by around 16 auxillary and regular firefighters.
The case is still being investigated into under Section 436 of the penal code under "mischief by fire or explosive".
