Untimely rain may pour down in nine regions and states: DMH

Untimely rain may pour in nine regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw due to whirlwind from the west, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

According to weather forecast made by the DMH in December 30, rain will be fairly widespread from scattered in upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan and Chin states and scattered from isolated in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway regions and Rakhine State between January 1 and 6 due to westerly wind.

“The western disturbances will cross Myanmar and move to east and rain will be scattered from fairly widespread in northern Kachin, Chin and Rakhine states, Mandalay, Magway regions and Nay Pyi Taw between January 1 and 3. More rain may pour down between January 4 and 6 and rain will be widespread in Kachin and Shan states, fairly widespread in upper Sagaing and Mandalay regions, scattered in Chin and Kayah states and isolated in Nay Pyi Taw, northern Rakhine State, Magway and Bago regions. We need to take notice of strong wind in that period,” said Deputy Director Hla Tun of the DMH.

A low pressure area may form over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal during January. Weather will be partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal, according to the DMH.

Rain are likely above normal in upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan and Chin states, below normal in Yangon and Ayeyawady regions and Mon State and about normal in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi regions, Rakhine, Kayah and Kayin states. Rainy days are expected about 7 to 10 days in upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan and Chin states, about 3 to 6 days in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago and Taninthayi regions, Rakhine, Kayah and Kayin states and about 1 to 2 days in Yangon and Ayeyawady regions and Mon State.

Night temperature will be about normal in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.

Foggy days will be expected about 15 to 21 days in upper Sagaing and Mandalay regions,  Kachin, Shan, Chin and Rakhine states and about 7 to 14 days in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.
