Union Auditor General underscores importance of overseeing public finances to prevent any financial losses

The Union Auditor General’s Office must monitor and maintain public finances in accordance with the civil service ethics to prevent loss of public finances in the national interest, Union Auditor General Dr Khin Naing Oo said.

She made the remark during the coordination meeting (2/2023) of the directors of region and state auditor general offices on September 22.

The Union Auditor General’s Office is taking the lead in public interests by legally inspecting and reporting on the financial accounts and activities of government departments and organizations. In doing so, monitoring and maintenance in line with the civil service ethics are required to prevent the loss of public finances and to prevent any loses to the State. Moreover, the objectives set by the State must be implemented in accord with the rules and disciplines and through sound management, she said.

After that, the directors of the office of the auditor generals from Mon State, Rakhine State, Yangon Region, Shan State, Ayeyawady Region, Nay Pyi Taw, Kayin State and Kachin State discussed financial audits, compliance inspections, operational inspections, real time audits and assignment inspections, staff matters and accounting. They then reported on difficulties and ongoing arrangements.
