Two policemen shot dead in Zinkyaik

Two policemen from Zinkyaik Police Station in Zinkyaik, Paung Township, Mon State, were shot and killed on December 10 afternoon, local sources say.

Their bodies with bullet wounds were found near Bridge No.4/169 on Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway in Falat Village, Paung Township, a local resident said.  

“Both were shot while they were returning to Zinkyaik from Oktantar Village. Their bodies were found about 50 feet apart,” he said.

Security forces were reportedly conducting inspections in the area after the police killings.

At about 8pm on September 6 also, a people’s militia group confronted shootings by unknown gunmen while they carrying out security duties on Yangon-Mawlamyine Road in Kywechan Village in Paung Township. One member of the militia group died and two others were wounded.
