Two men were stabbed to death after being accused of being military informants, while a monk was shot dead in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region, local sources said.
Receiving information about the deaths, security forces went to the scene and found two men dead with stab wounds beside Mandalay-Bhamo Road between Letpangon and Hsezingon villages in Thabeikkyin Township at about 10.30 am on June 14. According to the investigation, a 57-year old living in Letpangon Village and another man, aged 57 also, living in Hsezingon Village were kidnapped by about eight PDF members after being accused of being informers. Then they were stabbed to death at a place between mile posts 33/7 and 34/4 on Mandalay-Bhamo Road.
At about 1 pm on the same day, a Buddhist monk aged 60 residing alone at a monastery about two furlongs east from Kopin Village was kidnapped by a PDF group. He was then shot dead in a field near the monastery.
In Myanmar, 70 monks and one nun have been murdered since 2021.
