Two foreigners cheated a staff from a money changer in Yankin Township to steal US$0.1 million on December 19, according to the police force.

The staff was alone in the shop when two foreigners arrived in the shop. They told her they want to buy US$0.1 million and she gave the money to them. The foreigners placed the US$100 notes in a bag and replaced them in another bag. They gave her Ks 500,000 in advance. They told her they will go to take Ks150.5 million from their car and took one of the bags which kept the US dollars.

They didn’t come back and she opened the bag they left in the shop. Inside the bag, she saw the counterfeit notes, according to the police.

“They are still at large and the police are still checking CCTV records from the shop,” said a police officer from the Yangon Region police force.

The case was opened under Section 420/489 of the Penal Code at Yankin Township police station.
