There was less traffic on the Mandalay-Lashio, Lashio-Hsenwi-Kunlong-Chinshwehaw-Laukkai sections due to the fighting that started yesterday in the towns of Lashio, Kunlong, Hsenwi, Laukkai, and Chinshwehaw in northern Shan State, but some buses are moving normally on the Mandalay-Lashio section on October 28.

"We went to Lashio from Mandalay at 8 am today. The situation is stable on the road. The traffic is not as much as before, but some are moving as usual. Until we reached Kyaukme, we didn't see anything special. In the morning, I heard that there were some clashes in Gotetwin on the Kyaukme side." said Ko Hlaing.

According to residents, the Hopaik toll gate at the exit of Lashio town, which was hit by a heavy weapon yesterday, has been opened for normal traffic.

"In Lashio, business is going on as usual. Transactions in shops and markets are normal. There is traffic in the town. Last night, we heard the sounds of heavy weapons around the town. We can still hear it this morning.” said a local.

However, due to strict security and closure of the Yepu checkpoint near Hsenwi town, vehicles have not yet been able to pass through the Lashio-Hsenwi-Kunlong-Chinshwehaw-Laukkai road.

On October 28, some fighting is also taking place between Hsenwi and Kutkai.

The MNDAA has announced that vehicles will not be allowed to pass through the Lashio-Muse and Lashio-Chinshwehaw road from October 27 and they will attack the vehicles that pass by.

It is reported that many locals from villages close to the fighting areas near Lashio town are also coming to Lashio town to escape the war.

About 1,800 locals from Machinu, Kaung Pyu, Na Pha, Pan Sein and Kaungsone villages and Aung Thit Sar Kwat Thit had arrived at Lashio Sri Mingalar Mansu Shan Monastery, and some of the locals have gone back to their homes today.

"Until this morning, there are about 1,800 people who have fled. Some are staying at their relatives' houses. There are about 1,800 in Mansu Monastery. This morning, after listening to the situation, some of them went back. Now there are almost a thousand left. They have not returned yet. Donors can donate the food and equipment they need." said a person helping refugees.

Donors who wish to donate necessary equipment and food for war refugees can contact Mansu Shan Monastery.
