Plans are underway to use an online permit system in distributing fuel from Thilawa port to various states and regions of Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Energy.

Deputy Minister for Energy U Thant Sin, also chairman of the Fuel Import, Storage and Distribution Supervisory Committee, arrived at the oil depots at Thilawa Port in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, and inspected the taking out of fuel on afternoon of December 15.

He also inspected arrivals of fuel from foreign oil tankers at the port, loading of fuel at the oil depots and arrangements to distribute fuel in oil bowsers to various regions and states after seeking a permit.

The deputy minister said that the system of manually taking out permits for oil bowsers would be transformed to an online system, and called for installing a software and supervision of fuel purchases and consumptions. He also stressed the need for filling stations to provide quality fuel and quality services and for responsible officials to ensure that there is no spillage of fuel during loading and unloading.
