With the second surge of COVID-19 pandemic, the number of blood donors at the National Blood Bank has declined significantly, with the department now desperately needing blood donors in order to prevent shortage in case of emergency.

Having the necessary blood for those requiring blood urgently can prevent such situations. It is important that the National Blood Department has all types of blood in store.

The drop in the numbers of blood donors could alarm the patients. There has been a significant drop of donors starting from mid August. The units of blood in store has dropped from the month of June, and is at the lowest compared to yearly level.

It is learnt that if the urgent requirement of blood keeps declining there is going to be difficulties. For the convenience of blood donors arrangements have been made at IM 2 for those living around Yangon

It is known from the National Blood Department that all precautionary measures as to social distancing, disinfecting, taking temperature so that donors can donate blood without any fear or anxiety.

Arrangements have also been made for an entire family to donate. Families that wish to do so can contact and make the necessary arrangements.
