The government practices the zero-tolerance policy to corruption and shall deal with the cases effectively, said Zaw Htay, the spokesperson of the President Office on March 12 (Monday) told reporters after the NRPC-RCSS talk held at the NRPC in Nay Pyi Taw on March 11.

“Especially, since after U Aung Kyi leads the commission in the time of current government, deal with the corrupt cases effectively. The government has given a mandate to the Chair of the Anti-Corruption Commission to freely perform his duties in accordance with the law.

“During their tours, the President and the State Counsellor said the government would not be patient with corruption. It is also pointed out in other political speeches. It is a very difficult issue to be tackled in the countries like Myanmar, which experience the transitional period.  To become a corruption-free society needs to take time. Take a look at the majority of countries, it takes at least 10 years for a country to become a good governance,” he continued.

Now Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister Daw Le Le Maw has been detained in accord with the law. An investigation will be made into the cases exposed by the Anti-Corruption Commission. It is similar to the case of the FDA’s director-general.
