The 3rd Myanmar traditional Thanakha festival to held in Mandalay

Mandalay-The third Myanmar Thanakha festival and Thanakha girl will be held in Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda from February 27 to 29, organized by the Myanmar Thanakha Association.

There will be 50 booths selling various kinds of Thanakha products. The festival aims to preserve Myanmar’s traditional heritage and to cherish the Thanakha culture among Myanmar people.

Places like Ayardaw, Shinmadaung, Pakkoku, Yaysagyo, Shwebo, Myaing, Sagaing, where Thanakha plants are usually grown will be participating in the festival with their products.

“For three years, we hold Thanakha festival at the Kyauk Taw Gyi pagoda in Mandalay. Thanakha lovers from local and abroad come and visit our shows. Thanakha plants are usually grown in Sagaing and Mandalay regions. We hope to get more buyers from local and international markets. This year, we will hold a Thanakha beauty competition where grand prizes will be given,” said chairman of Myanmar Thanakha cultivation, production, export, and sale association Kyaw Moe.
